18th century English portrait of a gentleman, probably a cleric. He sits with book in hand. To the rear is a
bookcase and, bust and his hat. Beside him is a glass carafe and crucifix.

Rear of chassis stamped S.Morrill Liner and bears a label inscribed 'Man With Book'
Unframed oil on canvas.

Relined and restored at some point.
