Giant Tea Canister from a 19th Century Tea Shop or Family Grocer, with its original gilt and polychrome lacquerwork decorations depicting a gilded Canon and Ammunition Boxes, and gilt banner 'THE GUNPOWDER TEA' a traditional Chinese blend which had become famous in Britain during Queen Victoria's reign.


Makers plaque on the reverse side 'PARNALL & SONS. NARROW WINE STREET. BRISTOL. 


Stands 33 inches tall x 16 diameter (84 x 41 cms).


In good condition with some acceptable wear from its age and usage.  Made in England circa 1860-1900
