These were usually produced as training aids for the medical world teaching anatomy to students, or sometimes as a part of anatomy shows.
They focused the attention on specific features making the form more comprehensible and invaluable aids when human bodies were less available.

Attached to a black base which has some ancient woodworm holes, it has one old small what looks like a nail hole on the top of its head.
