About the artist
Erland Melanton (1916-1968)
Studied at the Department of Mural Painting at the Higher School of Art and Design in Stockholm 1938-1943 and became a teacher of watercolor painting at the School of Art in 1946.
He also studied mosaic techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna 1946-1947 and mural painting at the Conservatory of Florence in 1949.
He was a freelance teacher. painting at Konstfack 1949-1963, professor of painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm from May 1963.
Erland Melanton was married to Kaisa Melanton from 1943 . He was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts and is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm.
