Item Details

A wonderful life-scale cast iron late 19th Century Red Doe Deer. Attributed to the Robert Wood Foundry, Philadelphia, Pa, America.

Established in 1850, the iron foundry ventured into garden ornament production in 1858 when Wood partnered with Elliston Perot. The Wood & Perot period (1858-1866) saw an explosion in the way of ornamental offerings including animal , figural statuary and fountains - many of which were copies of English and French patterns.
