https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/collinge-antiquesEarly 19th.c. walnut panetiere or bread safe c.1820. Used for cooling and storing freshly baked bread for which it would be hung on a wall away from pests, the open sides and slatted base helping to prevent humidity which would cause the bread to spoil. A simple example of the form with 18 turned spindles to the front and sides between straight rails. Small door in the front with a twist catch attached to the knob. Pine top and back panel with holes in the rear for fixing to the wall. Missing a portion of the shaped bracket inside the right hand front foot. Otherwise very good original colour and condition. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
