Item Details

Very unusual walnut and leather high armchair with a folding step c.1900. Original purpose is unknown but possibly intended as a shoe shine chair in a lobby perhaps. Good quality solid walnut frame with original tooled leather upholstery to the backrest, arms and seat with large decorative brass studs. The sprung seat is height 31″ from the floor. Crisp turned arm supports and front legs from between which an 8″ deep step (height 13″) folds forwards. Joined with an H stretcher for strength. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
