Large 16th.c. style woven woollen tapestry wall hanging. 82" x 52" panel. Taken from the 'Hunts of Maximilian' series of twelve Flemish tapestries now to be found in the Louvre. Depicting The Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian and other noblemen on horseback with a detailed view of the city of Brussels in the background. Within a border of flowers and fruit plus a classical frieze along the bottom edge. Slightly padded to give three dimensions to the figures and detail. With a sewn pocket along the top edge to take a hanging rail. Excellent condition.
