Quality pair of French Louis XVI style giltwood armchairs or bergère c.1910. Padded backrest and sides with short wings and pads to the arms, over sprung seats with deep feather filled seat cushions. Giltwood frames with carved spiral ribbon detail and acanthus leaves to the arm terminals and the attractively swept fronts. Raised on turned and cable fluted legs front and rear. Original gilding attractively worn and rubbed through in places to reveal the red ground, gesso and wood below. Otherwise very good condition and very comfortable with serviceable upholstery.
