Item Details

Early 18th Century VOC Captains chest. This last came from The Hague’s private residence in the Netherlands. Originally used by officers on the ships of the Dutch East Indies Company. Those who travelled to the Dutch East Indies and had enough money and private space on board often had a private chest made in that region to transport their most precious belongings. We believe this to be made of teak wood and decorative copper metal detail. A fabulous and extremely rare piece of furniture and history to go with it!
