Item Details

An elegant reclaimed 17th Century limestone chimney piece. The surround has a date inscribed underneath the mantle that reads 1698; the time of Louis XIV. Originally there was a join in the mantle, but this has since been professionally joined to make a single piece. The surround has really interesting shaped carvings, with scrolls that sweep into a foliate frieze in the centre. The overall measurements are listed below. The internal section measures: 132cm (w) x 92cm (h). Legs measure: 17cm (w) x 22cm (d). The mantle measures: 168cm (w) x 29cm (d). Some dinks and signs of use, as can be expected with age.
