Item Details
Circa 1890, French walnut 3 door display/side cabinet. The polished top has a brass fore-edge in the form of a moulded brass section of egg and dart. Beneath this is an ogee moulding and various mouldings of a smaller scale. Below this above the centre door there is an ormolu plaque depicting a mythical head with a cornucopia of flowers each side. This is contained within a fielded panel and there are further panels with walnut veneers on either side. The main door in the centre top section has a brass mesh section and at the bottom there is a panel with a geometric inlay of veneers in the form of a sunburst. This occurs also on the panels on the left and the right in the opposite direction. Each of the doors has various crossbanded panels, and inside there are 3 adjustable shelves. Below the centre panel on the middle door there is another ormolu mount this time depicting a flaming urn in a geometric design. There is a very stylish moulding beneath all the doors which dips in the centre and the whole piece stands on six wonderful elevated tapering feet with foliate cast crowns, and finished with a cast sabot. The cabinet is a neat size, good colour.
