Circa 1800, large, unusual style, George III mahogany sofa table. The top is crossbanded in satinwood, birds eye maple and tulipwood, with rounded side flaps. An unusual configuration of inlaid drawer fronts with brass lion mask handles that hinge open, allowing 2 full table-depth sections for maps or architectural drawings. All supported on a ring turned, gun barrel stem over a cruciform inlaid platform base, supported on boldly carved griffin feet.
