Circa 1870. Mid Victorian burr walnut, gilded brass and ivory book slide. The rectangular platform base with ebonized sides, end sections which are shaped and hinged which when lifted, reveal the burr walnut. The ends are on slides and expand to accommodate the books, pierced with gilded fleur-de-lis and ivory panels riveted to the brass plate.
