A portrait of a dashing gentleman, likely a Mr 'E. Butler' as inscribed verso; dated '3 / 1830'. Oil on canvas.


The gentleman sitter is wearing a black jacket and white shirt with a stiff high collar typical of the late Georgian/Regency era with a silk cravat, before a background of moody skies, mountains and a lake.
