About Robert K McKeller
Painter and teacher, born in Gravesend, Kent, where he attended the Technical School for Boys, 1957–62. Emigrated to New Zealand, 1964, returning to England on the death of his father in 1966. Did a foundation course at Medway College of Design, 1969–70, then a degree course at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, 1971–3. Gerald Norden and John Ward were among his teachers. From 1977 taught part-time at Hastings College of Art, reducing hours to paint more, ceasing all teaching in 1984. McKellar had a solo show at Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, in 1976. Afterwards exhibited widely, including Southover Gallery, Lewes, from 1979; Easton Rooms, Rye, from 1980; RA Summer Exhibitions from 1982; Omell Gallery from 1986; Merrifield Studios from 1988; and Touchstone Gallery, Hong Kong, 1990.
