This large, circa 1860, Victorian Ecclesiastical Gothic Revival altar table is crafted from solid pitch pine and features a two-planked top supported by a robust peg and mortised base. The design includes inset trefoil arched panels and heavy square leg posts with stop chamfers, culminating in elegant brass roller ball feet.


With a wonderful aged patina that showcases a rich depth of colour, this piece not only serves as a striking focal point but also offers versatility in use. Thanks to its open side it can be perfectly paired with a pair of bar stools to serve as an inviting spot for casual dining, or a serving table. Additionally, it makes an excellent high desk or worktop, adapting seamlessly to various settings, as a workstation or countertop in a retail setting.


In excellent sound condition, this altar table exemplifies exceptional craftsmanship. Known for their almost indestructible construction, these church-made pieces are solid and enduring. The longevity of these 19th century pieces is a testament to those craftsmen of the period, they built things to last, a piece that will last for generations to come.


The piece has been thoroughly cleaned and is ready for installation. The piece has a rich colour tone with natural wood grain, the timeworn look of the top has been retained to maintain its character, the base has wonderful dark spots and sheen that only comes with age.


Internal height from floor to the underside measures 29.25 inches / 74cm giving, the internal width between the leg posts is 45.5inches / 115.5cm. The overall width of the table top in 54inches / 137cm, and a depth of 26.75inches / 68cm. Height to table top is 34inches/87cm
