Akiko Hirai was born in Japan and moved to London in 1999. She studied ceramics at Central St Martins. Her work is a blend of Japanese and British pottery traditions resulting in asymmetrical organic forms. Her work can be found in the several museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Hepworth Wakefield Collection and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
