Item Details

An early Italian carved wood statue of Saint Nicholas.


It is very intricately carved with the Saint robed in a cassock, cape and mitre, carrying a staff and a large volume. The staff is removable from the statue.


It would have been gilded allover and there is still much present with the face having been originally painted.


It is all in original good condition with no restoration.


The statue is wonderfully atmospheric with a feeling of deep antiquity – Circa 1780-1800.
