A remarkable 18th century German Baroque church altar candlestick, carved wood and gilded gesso, dating to circa 1760, this very large scale pricket candle stick is profusely decorated and includes mirrored detailing throughout. There are obvious signs of wear with gesso loss, and centuries of altar candle wax, but this only adds to the charm and aesthetic of this exceptional piece. It is absolutely stunning.
