A rare 17th century ecclesiastical double sided wall hanging, oil on canvas of Saint Leonard of Noblac, a Frankish saint closely associated with the town and abbey of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, in Haute-Vienne, in the Limousin region of France. He was converted to Christianity along with the king, at Christmas 496.


Usually depicted as an abbot holding chains, fetters or locks, or manacles and is the Patron Saint of political prisoners, imprisoned people, prisoners of war, and captives, women in labour, as well as horses.




Hand painted religious imagery with ancient German text to the bottom. Painted monogrammed design to the back.



Wear and losses commensurate to the age. Fixed between oak poles each tipped with painted finials. The top pole has a fabulous red and white striped pattern to it.
