This decorative pair of late 19th century continental (probably Swedish) bedsides show beautifully carved details and rustic charm


 


Each cabinet features 3 equally proportioned drawers, exceptionally carved with a laurel leaf design, border and brass ring handle


The sides of the cabinets also feature more carved borders and linear pattern. They are sat upon decoratively turned, tapered fluted legs which are topped with scalloped aprons


 


These had been historically prepared for gilding, yet this was never applied, they have collected a distressed layering of paints and finishing over the years, creating a unique and stunning patina.


 


The cabinet tops resemble an almost faux marble finish with the layers of colour and mixed tones that have settled over time.


They are in found condition and have not been re-touched.
