Item Details

A stunning and very rare gilt gesso over wood circular tailors mirror, with superb foxed mercury plate, dating to the early 19th century. We have had a number of rectangular and square tailors mirrors, but the circular ones of this period are very rare, particularly with their original plate intact


Most of the backboards have gone, the plate is fixed with a number of wooden wedges.


Some areas of loss to the gesso, and the gilt has faded in many areas over the years. A truly exceptional decorators/interiors piece.
