This is a very large and comfortable 19th-century sofa, newly upholstered with a hardwearing washable suede-like light grey fabric. This style of furniture was popular during the reign of King Louis XV of France. It is characterized by its curvy shapes, elaborate carvings, and use of gilding. The gilt has acquired a beautiful patina commensurate with age.
