The interior is lined in the original vivid red and gilt decorated paper. Canton, circa 1820.
These traveling trunks were made in China for the export market, usually made from camphor wood to repel the insects, the brass studs are both decorative and reinforce the leather.
Condition: A very well preserved example which does not show signs of too much travel, all the brass studs are complete, internally the red lining paper is bright and complete, it is a little wrinkled in places and with the odd chip around the lock.
