Both hoops, the turned arm supports, the short spindles and lower splat all in figured yew wood. An elm seat stands on turned legs, the front right of which is in laburnum, united by a crinoline stretcher in yew. The use of laburnum indefinites this as a Scottish made chair, the sap wood has worn away over time which is typical of this timber. The chair has had a life and you will note the loss of the scroll end to the left arm tip and two spliced repairs complete with old screws.
Scottish, circa 1840
111cm H, 56cm W, 47cm D, the seat 42cm H.
