This is an antique gentleman's Davenport. An English, walnut and bird's eye maple writing cabinet in Aesthetic Period taste, dating to the Victorian era, circa 1880.

Superb walnut stocks show fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Comprehensive suite of compartments set within the delightful frame
The angled top hosts a lidded compartment ahead of the skiver
Tanned to a rich amber hue, the tooled and embossed skiver in good condition
Opening to reveal a striking bird's eye maple interior, with a pair of recessed drawers
Both upper sections dressed with brass lock escutcheons — in working order, key present
Appealing field panelling decorates the lower fascia and side panels
Carved foliate friezes adorn each panel, with shaped apron brackets adding a flourish
Right hand side hosts a quartet of delightful drawers behind a cabinet door — key present
The whole standing upon a set of four bun feet with collared finish
