This is a large antique bow front chest of drawers. An American, flame and oak 4 drawer bedroom chest, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.



  • Beautifully presented example of fine American craftsmanship

  • Bountiful warm caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish



  • Attractive bow front form, arranged as four graduated drawers

  • Each resplendent with superb flame fascia over quality oak drawer boxes

  • Dressed with late oval brass pulls and inset locks — keys absent



  • Maker's mark to the upper drawer, with a Double J inside a circle

  • Likely the mark of Johann Michael Jahn (1816 - 18883), who emigrated to America in 1844

  • Standing upon distinctive front legs, with a pair of square section legs to the rear
