Late 19th Century silver bistro mirror with original plate.
These elegantly simple frames were very modern in their time, echoing the impressionist's disdain for any overt decoration.
They were usually hung landscape behind the bars in French cafes, as in Édouard Manets ‘A Bar at the Folies-Bergère’ 1881.
