A fine example of a 19th-century military campaign trunk, crafted around 1850 from solid camphor wood.


The sturdy rectangular trunk features brass corner reinforcements and straps, which not only enhance its robustness but also add to its timeless aesthetic. Brass carry handles are fitted on either side, allowing for easy transport.


The hinged lid lifts to reveal a spacious interior, complete with a built-in candle box—a thoughtful design element typical of the era, providing a dedicated space for storing candles or small essentials. The interior retains its distinct camphor wood aroma, a highly valued characteristic in Victorian times, as camphor wood was known for its natural moth-repellent properties, helping to protect clothing and other stored items.
