Item Details

Mid Century teak cabinet by Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921-2003) for G-Plan. Circa early 1960's.

The cabinet's two doors have a highly figured book match design, with solid rosewood square form handles. The cabinet sits on a stylized open stretcher and squat legs. The interior has a shelf to each side, the right hand shelf being recessed to hold bottles. These shelves have three adjustments. The interior is finished in a highly figured teak. Designer's signature stamp to the inside. The cabinet is veneered in teak with solid edgings and legs.

An excellent clean example, it has been sympathetically re-finished by hand. There are still a few light authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage.

Ib Kofod-Larsen was a Danish architect and furniture designer, who began his design career after gaining an architecture degree from the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. In 1948, he opened his own design studio in Copenhagen and became an important representative of Danish Modernism. He had prominent international success in the 1950-60's, where his Scandinavian work was manufactured globally in Europe and beyond, including Japan.

The interior is 41cm deep x 47cm high. Each compartment measures 48cm wide.
