Item Details

A superb decorative set of four carved walnut Anglo Indian armchairs and matching extending dining table. Circa 1920.

Handmade in solid walnut, with hand shaped table top and seats, having a pie crust edging. The chairs have carved lotus leaf pierced decoration and lily pad backs. There are a few marks to the finish in places as expected with age, mainly to the seats which show some water marks.

There is some woodworm to the underside of the chairs, and to one arm. The table also has a small amount of woodworm to the frame. This appears old, but has been fully treated with a woodworm treatment and filled.

Please note the chair seats are quite narrow. They are of quite a delicate design, but are all sturdy in structure. As the chairs are handmade, there is some difference in height and back position.

When the table leaf is used, the table ends have a bit of movement (up and down) due to the design. There are metal hook and hoop fittings to the underside to hold in place, one hook is missing.

I will be packing the table dismantled for despatch. Simply slide the ends on. If you require the central leaf, you will need to slide off one of the ends first.
