Item Details

Late 19th Century quatrefoil stained glass angel with anchor. Circa 1880.


Excellent composition, in original unrestored condition. The glass will need a thorough clean. A metal fitting with chain has been made at some point to hang it on the wall. There is lead damage around this area. Three of the glass panels have hairlines to them.


A light box has been used to illuminate the image.


The anchor was regarded in ancient times as a symbol of safety, due to its navigational connotations, and also of hope.
