Beautiful English 19th Century Antique Rushlight


A totally original early 19th century antique rushlight that has a lovely coiled counterweight with a twist to the lower section of the iron stem, stands well in a treen turned base. In excellent condition, a super working example which is very similar the one shown in the excellent book, Robert Ashley’s Rushlights and Related Holders. The one in the book is pictured and mentions the possibility of being from the Isle of Wight, although similar ones can be found in Yorkshire and Wales.
