Item Details
A late 17th century ecclesiastical oil on canvas painting in a later 1830s distressed gilt frame. The open book with Latin text “ego sum panis vivus qui de caelo descen” (“I am the living bread which came down from heaven”). The painting would have originally hung in a convent or a church, as there were no females depicted in monasteries. There are repairs to the back of the frame, and age-related wear to the canvas, but no rips or tears.
