Item Details

Unusual, antique French margin mirror, circa 1870, with serpentine top and cream and gilt frame. The outer frame is decorated with a gilt ribbon twist and the inner frame with large beads. Beading also links the two frames at each corner. The mirror sections between the two frames are bevelled and decorated with an inner and outer row of scallop cuts with more age in these sections than in the central mirror, which has more wispy age and still gives a fair reflection. The "piece de resistance" is the high, decorative bow cartouche, which makes this mirror special and eyecatching whilst still being a very good size for an overmantel.
