Item Details

Large late 19th century French gilt margin mirror with arched top and supporting feet. The outer frame is decorated with a ribbon twist pattern and the inner frame is beaded. The two frames are linked at each corner with a central oval shield motif which is flanked with a curled and crossed-over design decorated with little acanthus leaves. The mirror is topped with a delicate, floral and foliate cartouche and floral sprays hang down from each top corner and the lower corners have curled acanthus leaves and floral sprays ascending the outer edges of the mirror. The original glass is in very good condition, the central mirror plate is bevelled and all the mirror glass gives an excellent reflection.
