Oil painting by Erik Wessel-Fougstedt (1915-1990)
A really charming studio interior by a Franco–Swedish painter. The artist was the son of Arvid Fougstedt a well-known Swedish portrait and figure painter, so he had a leg up in the art world of the time. As with many of the Nordic painters, the artist is remarkably well priced in comparison to his British contemporaries of the same stature. His work is held in the National Museum of Sweden, the Modern Museum of Art in Stockholm and the Museums of Gothenburg, Vänersborg and Kalmar.
