These cushions are made from a vintage handloomed textile from the Songjiang weaving district of Shanghai. The textile was woven on a narrow loom, 25" wide so I've just had enough width to make these cushions. The cotton yarns were hand-spun so there are lots of lumps and bumps characteristic of these textiles as well as tiny fragments of cotton husks. The design is similar to a ticking stripe, with one side having a broad stripe and the other more narrow. I'm not sure why it was woven like this but i think its rather nice. I've added tassels in a deep red similar to the stripe and there are zip fasteners and feather pads.
