Item Details

An early 19th century French gilded pier mirror. The slender proportions to this pretty mirror make it ideal to use as a pier mirror to hang between twin windows, an alcove or simply a decorative wall mirror. The gilded surface has faded a little over the past century revealing the rich terracotta base coat creating a pleasing contrast of muted colours. Surmounted with a cartouche of  rising and outward scrolling plumes of acanthus leaves. A fine row of gilded gesso beads sit neatly against the later mirror plate. France circa 1820.
