Item Details

A 19th century fruitwood chest of four drawers on a slightly smaller scale. There are four oak lined solid cherrywood drawers to the commode all housed within a solid cherrywood carcass. The dense fruitwood timbers that make up this gorgeous piece are all in superb, robust condition and have mellowed to the most beautiful colour over the past century and more gathering a richly polished surface in this time.
The original working locks still remain behind the decorative brass escutcheons, each fitted with a newly cut key for opening. The drawers all fit well and run smoothly. Solid cherrywood commode, France circa 1860.
