Item Details

An English Regency mirror of the grandest proportions. The top to this elegant mirror is decorated with a frieze of gilded ribbon tied swags interspersed with stylised daisy heads above two reeded pillars. To the base of the pillars are decorative ribbed panels with outward swept scrolls together with egg and dart moulded detail. The original gilded surface has mellowed over the past two centuries to a deep atmospheric colour with traces of the pinkish bole basecoat revealed. The original mirror plate is in remarkable blemish free condition. Original craftsman made panelled wooden backboard. English Regency overmantle mirror circa 1820.
