A superb example of a French walnut commode. The top to this pretty commode has four large matched veneers creating a neat uniform pattern. Below are five drawers, a slender top drawer above three deeper a fifth can be found within the plinth base, each drawer fitting well and running smoothly. Original locks with circular walnut escutcheons and a key for opening. The veneers to the drawer fronts are crammed with a generous amount of burrs and figuring. The colour is deep and golden with a richly polished surface. French wooden top commode. France circa 1880.
