Depicting the iconic Marilyn with typical hair and make-up, a pearl necklace, a white fur stole and that oh-so-familiar glint in her eye.
The photograph dates from 1953, around the time of her film ‘How to Marry a Millionaire’. This famous shoot, dubbed ‘Wrapped in White Fur’ was shot by Frank Powolny, head photographer at 20th Century Fox for 40 years. The shoot formed part of the Michael Ochs Archive in Los Angeles. French Vogue’s recent feature on Monroe’s most beautiful Jewelry Moments featured a photograph from this shoot focussing on the pearl necklace.
Framed and glazed in a complimentary silver metal frame with a pale green mount. By the looks of it, the framing occurred sometime around the 1970s which could date the print or it could potentially be a tad earlier.
The print is in good vintage order as is the frame with only minor wear commensurate with age.
Overall measurements: 105cm x 76cm x 3cm.
