PAIR OF ANTIQUE CHAIRS


A pair of highly decorative and elegant chairs with shaped and turned ebonised frames which have been hand-painted and gilt with floral decoration, chinoiserie in taste


The seats are upholstered in the most wonderful faded black velvet with central needlepoint embroidered panels with floral decoration. The original upholstery labels remain underneath for 'P Truffaut, Tapissier à Coutances' from Normandy, France.


Probably dating from the mid-19th Century period during the reign of Napoleon III. Circa 1850s-1860s.


They are in good vintage condition. There is some wear throughout commensurate with age which we think adds to their charm and aesthetic.


Each one measures 87cm high x 45cm wide x 49cm deep. The seat height is roughly 45cm.
