Item Details

Early 20th Century Hand Crafted Folk-art American Jig Doll Figure

A charming and quirky hand-crafted early 20th Century folk-art American jig doll figure. Wearing a wood and tin hat with ceramic pins for eyes. All hand painted detail, likely to have had a pipe in its mouth at some point, which has been lost over time (or he quit smoking). With a metal pinned back panel, likely to have had a support stick in place to make it move. With metal buttons in place and articulated legs and feet. A charming example with slight resemblance to figures in Bill Traylor paintings.
