Early 19th Century Measuring stick
One of the most unusual and tactile objects we have uncovered for our store. A hand carved early 19th century four sided numerically detailed measuring stick of sorts. Believed to be used as an instrument to measure bags of grain from the Tibetan regions. Both ends have a metal nailed section and loophole which could have been attached to a rope at some point. The patination and natural wear across the surface of this artefact is outstanding, a true work of art in our humble opinion.
Size in inches: H 26.5” x W 1” x D 1.2”
Period: Early 19th Century
Material: Wood
Origin: Tibet
Condition: Aged
Completely solid in structure and form, with a natural patination across the surface. An object dating back over 200 years so expect age related wear as shown. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
