Napoleonic Prisoner of War Casket Dominoes Set
We share what we love, and we love this early 19th century Napoleonic prisoner of war casket dominos set. One of the most detailed and finely hand carved pieces of folk art we have had the pleasure to uncover. Quite simply, amazing attention to detail and a true work of art.
Many prisoners of war from the late eighteenth through the early nineteenth centuries made craft items which they sold or traded to acquire a few small necessities such as soap, salt, cigarettes, and medicine. These items where made from found objects such as pine crates, mutton bone from leftover food and string or straw.
