19th Century Italian trompe l’oeil panels

We are proud to offer a spectacular pair of highly decorative 19th Century Italian trompe l’oeil panels, each depicting an architectural balcony hung with garlands of flowers, the opposing ends with a seated cherub holding a candelabra, the tops of the candelabra having iron prickets to hold candles. The panels are of period pine plank construction with supporting stretchers to the rear, the cherubs are removable and slot into the bases (see photographs of the reverse of the panels).

Size per panel: W 66” x H 75” x D 3”

Origin: Italy

Period: Mid – 19th Century

Material: Pine wooden board

Weight: 25KG each panel

These items are completely solid in structure and form.  Very well-made constructed pine boards which are firmly in place. All hand painted with aged over painting repairs in place however the paint has flacked and crackled in areas due to their age and years of obvious use. The cherubs fit firmly into the main base as shown, the prickets are covered in rust and wax. Rusty screws still in place and the wood shows lots of characteristic patination. Each section weights roughly 25kg due to the construction and material. Aged long gone worm holes are present with missing edge sections of wood and paint as you may expect from items of this nature. Its strongly suggested to review all the photos supplied as part of this avert however request more detail where areas are unsure. The post costs are reflective of these items size and weight.
