A fine quality late Victorian cut crystal decanter with a solid silver collar and the original facet-cut teardrop stopper, hallmark date 1899, stamped with the makers mark for Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company (which later merged with Garrard The Cxrown Jewellers). The exquisitely cut body of the decanter has a star cut base which also has an historic polished out chip to the rim, which is not particularly noticeable and is shown in various images above. Items which were of value were regularly treated to repairs rather than waste them, and arguably add to the charm of an antique.  A grand antique decanter with an excellent makers mark.
